Ed Catmull eloquently laid a framework for nurturing innovation in his book Creativity, Inc. As President of the newly minted Pixar, he saw shared responsibility, treating others as equals, and avoiding the traps of hierarchy, as keys to preserving and protecting the creative energy of the group. He considered himself part of the team, and wanted an egalitarian environment where everyone’s opinion is valued.
